I am a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and am passionate about providing patient centered, trauma informed care that uplifts the health of my community. With the understanding that mental and physical health are interwoven, I treat the person as a whole and address the root causes of an imbalance rather than just the symptoms. Drawing from thousands of years of Chinese medical knowledge and herbalism, my toolbox as a practitioner includes both physical and energetic modalities that can support my patients' existing care. With a background in Western herbalism, I received a Doctorate of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Five Branches University in Santa Cruz California where I studied the human body through the holistic and time honored lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine alongside Western medicine. I have experience practicing as an intern in a variety of healthcare settings including a fully integrated Hospital in Hanoi Vietnam. I am an NCCAOM diplomate of Oriental Medicine and Licensed in both Washington and California. I have worked with varying demographics and continue to weave mutual aid and indigenous solidarity into my role as a healthcare provider and community member. As a student of traditional lifeways, backpacker, gardener and poet, my love affair with the world keeps me humble and in awe. I am in continued gratitude to my teachers, mentors and the lineages of medical knowledge that inform my work.
Kerri Fitzgerald, MD Acupuncturist
Dr. Kerri Fitzgerald is a native of Ohio and attended the University of Dayton where she received her BS degree in Pre-Medicine in 1994. She spent 2 years working as a health director for the Ohio Migrant (Farmworker) Head Start Program before pursuing her medical training at the Medical College of Ohio where she earned her degree in 2001. She completed her Pediatric residency training at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and fellowship training in Neonatal and Perinatal Medicine at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. During her years of medical training, she continued to stay active in providing health care to migrant farmworkers and internationally in the Caribbean and Central America. Following medical training, Dr. Fitzgerald worked for several years as a Neonatologist in the Seattle area and at Madigan Army Medical Center, where her husband was serving as a neurosurgeon in the US Army. Upon moving to Bellingham, she took a break from active practice to focus on her family and re-evaluate her career goals. Inspired by both personal and professional exposures to acupuncture, she pursued and completed training in Medical Acupuncture at the Helm's Medical Institute. Dr. Fitzgerald has great appreciation for the ability of acupuncture to help manage medical problems that are often evasive or incompletely treated by Western medicine. She recognizes that acupuncture is another technique to improve her patients' health and well-being. Her particular interests are in the management of non-surgical back pain and in cancer symptom management, but is enjoys the opportunity to help her patients manage any medical problem with acupuncture as either a complement or alternative to western approaches. When not working, Dr. Fitzgerald's priority is spending time with her husband and 2 daughters. As a family, they enjoy cooking, fitness, travel and exploring the trails and outdoors of beautiful Western Washington. Dr. Fitzgerald accepts Regence and Regence-managed insurance plans.
